Paulding County Park District volunteers cleared out some brush at New Rochester Park to allow visitors to better view the Maumee River below. New Rochester was the county\u2019s first county seat. The park district will be the program topic at the John Paulding Historical Society\u2019s annual membership meeting March 5. The public is invited.<\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

The John Paulding Historical Society will hold its annual membership meeting and election of officers and directors at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 5. The program and meeting are free and open to the public.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The program will feature Paulding County Park District. The park district is dedicated to acquiring, developing and preserving parks and recreational areas for the use and enjoyment of Paulding County residents. Spokesman Glenn Troth will share how the organization was formed and acquisition and improvements of their six park areas. He also will unveil some of their ambitious future plans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Most of the sites have historical importance, including New Rochester Park near Cecil, Fort Brown Park, Canal Park historical marker and Five Span Park. Troth will discuss some of the background and significance of these sites.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The park district is a separate, independent entity. Troth credits the public\u2019s \u201cgenerous support\u201d for their success so far. Work has been accomplished through volunteers, financial support and in-kind donations. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

A nonprofit, 501c3 Friends of the Paulding Park District Inc. promotes and supports the park district through fundraising and other activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The historical society is pleased to have the park district as its annual meeting program. Area residents are urged to attend and learn more about the park district as well as the historical society. Learn more about Paulding County\u2019s fascinating history and what great things the county has to offer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Refreshments will be served after the meeting. The museum is located at 600 Fairground Drive in Paulding, across from the fairgrounds. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
