Paulding County in the Civil War<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Paulding County’s participation in the Civil War was more that the general public is aware of. Paulding County had the highest percentage of men serve than any county in the State of Ohio. In late 1864, a recruiting officer came to Charloe to recruit men for the war effort, he found three males, an older gentleman, a crippled veteran, and a young boy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The first company formed to serve in the war was Company G. 14th<\/sup> Ohio Volunteer Infantry. The Company was to serve three months. Organized in Antwerp, Ohio around April 22, 1861. They were mustered out of service August 13, 1861.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The first company to be organized in the county under a three years\u2019 call was Company F. 38th Ohio Volunteer Infantry. Organized in the summer of 1861, mustered out of service July 12, 1865. Company G. 14th Ohio Volunteer Infantry was home only about two weeks from its three months service when it began organizing for a three year term of service. Organizing August 26, 1861, this Company was mustered out of service, July 11, 1865. Company C. and D. 68th Ohio Volunteer Infantry was formed and organized November 25, 1861 and they trained at Camp Latty in Napoleon, Ohio. My Great-Great Grandfather served with Company D. Company I. 100th Ohio Volunteer Infantry that was raised in Antwerp, Ohio in August of 1862. This company was mustered out of service July 1, 1865. Paulding County furnished two companys to serve 100 days. Company A. and H. 132nd Ohio Volunteer Infantry was mustered into service May 2, 1864 and mustered out of service, September 10, 1864. My Great-Great grandfather\u2019s two brothers served with Company H.132nd Ohio Volunteer Infantry.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
