LATTY, OH:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Othal Maynard \u201cSam\u201d Carnahan<\/strong>, 95, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, on August 8, 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He was born in Oakwood, Ohio, on May 16, 1927, to Laurel F. and Opal Maye (Grove) Carnahan, and graduated from Oakwood High School in 1945. He served in the U.S. Navy in the Blue Jacket Choir, then was shipped to the Philippines during World War II. On December 31, 1947, he married Arlene E. Riggenbach, who passed away in 2000.  After working for the Norfolk Southern Railroad for 42 years, he retired in 1989. As a part-time hobby, he was a Journeyman electrician. He was a member of the Latty Friends UM Church and a member of Masonic Lodge #570, Continental, OH where he obtained his 32nd degree Valley of Toledo Scottish Rite. He was a former councilman and Mayor of Latty, Ohio, and long-time snowbird and Florida resident before moving to Country Inn, Latty, in 2019. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Dorothy Lubberts; children: Jane (Tony) Gray, Danny (Susan), Peggy (Vance) Glick, Kay (Lee) Humbert, and Edward; 9 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren,15 great-great-grandchildren; half-sister Mary Clay. Surviving stepchildren are Ray (Sue) Lubberts, Jalyn (John) Whitman, Dave (Cindy) Lubberts. There are also 6 Step-Grandchildren and 9 Step-Great Grandchildren.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Othal was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Arlene; father, Laurel; mother, Opal; step-mother, Esther; half-brothers Jerry, Dale, and Bruce.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Funeral services will be at Friends United Methodist Church in Latty on Saturday, August 13, 2022 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Monica Kleman and Rev. Grayson Atha officiating.  Burial will be in Sherman Cemetery, Brown Township, with military rites accorded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Visitation will be at Den Herder Funeral Home in Paulding on Friday, August 12, 2022 from 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM with a Masonic service at 7:30 PM. There will also be visitation from 10:00 AM until time of services on Saturday at the church.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Preferred memorials in lieu of flowers can be made to Friends United Methodist Church, PO Box 5, Latty, Ohio 45855 or choice of donor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
