Meet Mrs. Megan Cripe, the new principal of Southwick Elementary School!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What made you want to change schools to become principal? What made you want to apply for this position?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In my first year as assistant principal at Southwick, I quickly fell in love with the students, staff, and community. The uniquely diverse community provides a rich learning environment for all. I knew that I wanted to continue to be an advocate for families as they learn to navigate their child\u2019s education through economic, cultural, or linguistic barriers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Are there any changes you would like to make to the school?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In my three years at Southwick as assistant principal, I have been mentored by other strong leaders and able to play an influential role in decision-making. I look forward to continuing our current initiatives and focusing on educating the whole child.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How long have you been with the district?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

I have completed four years in East Allen County Schools. My first year was instructional coach at New Haven Middle School and three years as Assistant Principal at Southwick Elementary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Can you list some of your prior work experiences?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

I began my career in education at the high school level teaching Government and Economics courses. I have been a middle school Dean of Students as well as Instructional Coach. I also have coached cheerleading and tennis at the middle and high school levels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What are you looking forward to most about this job?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

I am most excited to be a part of our students\u2019 lives at such an integral time in their development. As a high school teacher, I never had the opportunity to watch a child learn how to read. It is truly a magical experience as they begin to access and understand the world around them. I look forward to supporting our primary level teachers as they create these early learning experiences that embrace the diversity of our community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
