6\/15\/22 — The Paulding County Fair is experiencing the extreme heat conditions as everyone else is and as a result of the temperatures in the 90\u2019s and the heat index above 100 degrees, the Rabbit Barn was developing dangerously high temperatures inside the building in the afternoon. The fair board decided to call the fire department in to apply copious amounts of water onto the metal roofing and siding to cool the building down.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Paulding Fire Department along with Crane Twp. and Payne Fire Departments responded with apparatus to accomplish the task. Their efforts brought the temperature down dramatically in the building. As a result, the other buildings with animals in them were sprayed down as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The rumors have been spreading that several animals have been dying, at the fair. There has been some rabbits that were affected by the heat but it was not due to the heat in the building, but other issues that has since been addressed by the owners of the rabbits. The poultry that were found dead in the poultry barn did not pass away due to the \u201cHighly Pathogenic Avian Influenza\u201d either. It was due to the heat to the birds and the lack of air movement in the building, as well as the stress with being shown earlier in the day. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Due to the excessive heat conditions some of the animals are going to be released early from the fairgrounds. The Fair Board President Dan Howell wants people to be assured that the animals on the fairgrounds are being well taken care of by the owners, barn cooling has been addressed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
