Payne Elementary held their annual Book Exchange on March 4, 2022.\u00a0 Title 1 teacher, Mrs. April Krouse, holds this event each year to promote literacy and encourage students to share their love of reading, especially during Read Across America week.\u00a0 Students are encouraged to bring in up to 2 gently used books for the exchange and then choose different books to take home. This year students donated approximately 300 total books!!\u00a0 Teachers also made donations, along with the United Way of Paulding County. In the end, every student in the school went home with at least one book.\u00a0 Students enjoyed choosing books not only from their favorite authors, but as well as from a wide variety of topics and genres. \u00a0 Students who donated were also given an opportunity to win their choice of 3 different games. Winners were (from left) Peyton Hollar, Nuria Valdez, and Raylynn Gerardot.\u00a0 Mrs. Krouse appreciates all the help that went into this exchange and looks forward to next year\u2019s event!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Grover Hill Elementary observed Read Across America recently. Grover Hill Elementary School had a whole week of activities that challenged students to read a variety of books. Pete the Cat, Tractor Mac, Diary of a Wimpy Kid and Dr. Seuss.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Throughout the week, students dressed up for the theme of the day, played a variety of games, read stories, and explored a Dr. Seuss book.  The PTO furnished a treat to celebrate Dr. Seuss’ birthday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Even though National Read Across America Week is over, Grover Hill Elementary School will continue to encourage students to discover new books, authors, and different genres. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
