Photo credit: Melissa Amstutz\u00a0<\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>New Haven High School took part in The IHSAA Regional this past Saturday at Carroll.&nbsp; We were able to finish 4th as a team out of 18, and we advanced 5 to semi-state.&nbsp; We had 3 champs and two 4ths.&nbsp; Here is how our wrestlers competed:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>106- Julianna Ocampo continued her dominant ways.&nbsp; She pinned her first round opponent to advance to the semi-finals.&nbsp; He pinned his first opponent, which put him one short of tying the pin record.&nbsp; He didn\u2019t waste time in the semis, with a quick pin to tie the pin record at 28.&nbsp; In the finals, he made quick work of his opponent with another pin.&nbsp; That pin puts him at the top of the season pins list with 29 pins, and also puts him at the top of the podium as a regional champ.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>120- Karrington Cooper got in a whole early, but was able to storm back with superior conditioning and neutral wrestling.&nbsp; He eventually fell short losing 8-10.&nbsp; Great season Coop!!!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>126- Brayden Clauser made the eventual champion work.&nbsp; He fought the whole match losing 0-9.&nbsp; Great season Brayden.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>132- John Bussard came out strong with a 7-1 lead.&nbsp; He slipped up in the second and lost by pin.&nbsp; John will learn from this and get better.&nbsp; What a great freshman season!!!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>138- Aidan Elkins faced an opponent that he had been pinned by in two previous bouts.&nbsp; He wrestled his best this time, but he was out lasted through all three periods.&nbsp; Great effort and great season!!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>145- Elijah Miller stunned his first round opponent with a chin whip pin in the first to move on to semi-state.&nbsp; He wrestled tough in his next two matches, but lost both to place 4th.&nbsp; Good luck next week!!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>152- Aidan Carter gave the eventual champion all he wanted.&nbsp; Going into the second, only trailing 0-2, Aidan was still in the match.&nbsp; He fought hard, but ended up losing by pin.&nbsp; Great season and a really strong finish. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>170- Camari Kirk represents the senior class by himself, and he represented well.&nbsp; He pinned in the first round.&nbsp; Then he followed that up with an impressive win in the semis.&nbsp; He was able to set up a nice headlock to pin his opponent in the finals.&nbsp; At the end, Kirk stands at the top of the podium as a regional champ!!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>182- Connor Mason wrestled tough into the second period.&nbsp; He was in the match, when he lost by pin.&nbsp; Connor had a great season and a strong finish.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>195- Matt Poiry gave his opponent all he wanted, as he always does.&nbsp; Matt fights like no other, but lost in the first round.&nbsp; Can\u2019t wait to see what the off-season and next year bring for Matt.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>220- Dazhon Ware is basically a first year wrestle.&nbsp; I\u2019ve watched him grow all season.&nbsp; He gave a good fight, but he lost in the opening round.&nbsp; A good off-season awaits Dazhon.&nbsp; Great season!!!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>285- Josh Clark finished the day in 4th place.&nbsp; He pinned his first opponent to move on to semi state.&nbsp; He lost a close battle in the semis.&nbsp;
