{"id":33790,"date":"2021-09-28T15:00:00","date_gmt":"2021-09-28T19:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.westbendnews.net\/autonews\/?p=33790"},"modified":"2021-09-28T08:46:37","modified_gmt":"2021-09-28T12:46:37","slug":"stephen-moore-wows-at-republican-banquet","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.westbendnews.net\/autonews\/stephen-moore-wows-at-republican-banquet\/","title":{"rendered":"Stephen Moore wows at Republican Banquet"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>By: Lisa Nicely<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A warning about the state of the nation\u2019s economy was given during the Paulding County Republican Party\u2019s Lincoln-Reagan Dinner banquet on Saturday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Stephen Moore, economist and author of Trumponomics, was the keynote speaker at the event.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; display: block;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"youtube-player\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/bVT1qNLZXDE?version=3&#038;rel=1&#038;showsearch=0&#038;showinfo=1&#038;iv_load_policy=1&#038;fs=1&#038;hl=en-US&#038;autohide=2&#038;wmode=transparent\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" style=\"border:0;\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts allow-same-origin allow-popups allow-presentation allow-popups-to-escape-sandbox\"><\/iframe><\/span>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The banquet also featured several candidates running for office, as well as a moment of silence for Commissioner Clint Vance, who passed suddenly on Sept. 20.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Moore talked about several topics including upcoming proposed bills coming out of the current administration.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWhen (President Donald) Trump was in the White House, I was privileged to be in the Oval Office when several economic decisions were made,\u201d Moore said. \u201cI didn\u2019t always agree with the decisions he made. Most of the time I did agree, but not always. He welcomed the debate. We would debate, and the president, he would make the decision.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI truly believe every decision Donald Trump made in the Oval Office put America first,\u201d Moore continued. \u201cHe always asked the question \u2018will this benefit American businesses and American small companies?\u2019 \u201c<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Moore said he has deep concerns about bills coming through President Joe Biden\u2019s administration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe ($3.5 trillion) reconciliation bill is the single worst bill,\u201d he said. \u201cThis is an extremely dangerous bill. We have to stop it. This bill will bankrupt our country.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The amount of debt piling up in the nation is a major concern, Moore added. He said in the last month Trump was president there already was a $1 trillion COVID relief bill in place. He said Biden added another $1.9 trillion relief bill to the mix.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cBut that was truly a blue state bail-out bill,\u201d Moore said. \u201cDid you know the red states of America &#8212; and Ohio is a red state&#8211; have an unemployment rate that is 2 \u00bd percent lower than blue states? There is a massive divide between red state governments working and blue states collapsing.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He said he also has concerns about the $1 trillion infrastructure bill.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThat is not an infrastructure bill,\u201d Moore said. \u201cOne $1 out of every $5 has to do with infrastructure. It is a new green deal. They want to get rid of our oil, gas and coal industries \u2026 Then they say we now need a $3.5 trillion social welfare bill, which is the Great Society times two. It\u2019s really a $5 trillion bill.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cYou are talking about $12 trillion of spending in one year,\u201d Moore said, adding that Ohio\u2019s state budget is only $85 billion. He added that taking into account inflation that spending is more than the government used to finance the Civil War, Revolutionary War, World War I and World War II, building federal infrastructure and putting a man on the moon.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Moore also said he was concerned about the taxes small businesses will pay.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe have 30 million small businesses in this county, and they are the heartbeat of the country,\u201d he said. Moore added that energy taxes will affect everyone and inflation also has increased under the current administration.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt shrinks your paychecks,\u201d he warned.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe have to stop this (reconciliation) bill,\u201d Moore stressed. \u201cWe need more businessmen in the House and Senate. We did a study of the top 50 Democrats that deal with the economy in Washington. We looked through the resumes of these people \u2026 The average number of business experience is .5 years. They don\u2019t know anything about running a business so why would we ask them to take control of our businesses? We have our work cut out for us.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He said that children will be inheriting hundreds of thousands of dollars of national debt. According to the think tank agency, the Heritage Foundation, every child born in 2021 will have a&nbsp; $66,875 share of national debt. The foundation estimated that by the age of 18 that will be $111,552.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThis is a government that is going bankrupt and will go bankrupt quickly,\u201d Moore said, adding the current leaders have no plan for getting out of debt hence the discussion of raising the debt ceiling.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Moore also discussed the raising of taxes rates and the inheritance tax.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cYou spend your whole life paying taxes,\u201d he said. \u201cIf you count state taxes, you have to hand over half of what you made in your lifetime for taxes. We have to kill the death tax. I\u2019m committed to doing it.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Moore said the economy isn\u2019t the only thing to worry about for Americans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWhat happened in Afghanistan isn\u2019t just a fiasco,\u201d he said. \u201cIt is putting America in great danger. It is making us susceptible to terrorism.
