Residents from the Village of Payne had a packed-full day of events on Saturday, September 11. Jim Hooker and the American Legion worked hard to coordinate all of the different aspects of the scheduled events, from the car cruise in, parade, and the celebration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The parade had marching bands from the four schools including Wayne Trace, Antwerp, Paulding, and Hicksville, and parents gathered along the parade route, and the children too, to get candy. The Masonic Lodge was handing out flags as well!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Master of ceremonies for the 4 pm celebration was Kenny Stabler who brought up Eric Durre, pastor St. Jacob\u2019s Church, for the invocation and the Benediction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The First Responders of Payne are honored under the tent. Several EMS members had to leave on a run just a few minutes before the presentation. More pictures at westbendnews.net<\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

The grand Marshals for the parade included Payne\u2019s Police, EMS, Fire, Payne Clinic Staff, Dr. Hogan, and Dr. Kuhn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Payne\u2019s Rock Star citizen was presented by Acting Mayor Austin Scheiner, and was named as Dr. Kuhn, who will be retiring from Paulding County Hospital in October.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jason E Rue from Dupont Ohio gave his compelling recollection of 911 and the service of the veterans. He spoke on the creation of the American Legion and how the American Legion created the Veterans Affairs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
