In recognition of National Military Appreciation Month this May, Western Governors University Ohio is offering Military Appreciation Scholarships to service members and military veterans as well as their spouses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Allen, who is an Army National Guard veteran himself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cFor any Ohioan \u2013 including veterans \u2013 seeking the educational credentials they need to compete for in-demand jobs, WGU can be the perfect resource. And for employers seeking motivated, tested workers with credentialed skills, WGU Ohio graduates can be just what they\u2019re looking for,\u201d Allen said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
WGU has been named one of the \u201cTop Military-Friendly Colleges and Universities\u201d for ten consecutive years by Military Advanced Education and Transition Magazine and has demonstrated a strong commitment to helping servicemen and women apply their knowledge and life experiences toward a high-quality, accredited degree that can open career opportunities in fields like business, healthcare, K\u201312 education and information technology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
WGU Ohio\u2019s Military Appreciation Scholarship, valued up to $2,500 – is available to new students and can be applied to any of WGU\u2019s more than 60 career-focused degree programs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
More than 4,200 Ohioans are currently enrolled in WGU Ohio; the average age is 37 and more than three-quarters work full time. WGU\u2019s tuition is about $3,500 per six-month term for undergraduate programs and about $3,800 per term for graduate programs. Nonprofit WGU\u2019s flat-rate tuition model means students may complete as many courses as their schedules can accommodate each term at no additional cost. And, all learning materials are included in the flat fee, so there are no additional textbook costs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Designed to meet the needs of adult learners, WGU\u2019s competency-based education allows students to take advantage of their knowledge and experience to move quickly through material they already know so they can focus on what they still need to learn. Students complete their programs by studying on schedules that fit their lives, advancing as soon as they demonstrate that they have mastered subject matter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
WGU faculty members work one-on-one with students as mentors, offering guidance, support, and individualized instruction. While WGU\u2019s degree programs are rigorous and challenging, competency-based learning makes it possible for students to accelerate their progress, saving both time and money.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
WGU was established in 1997 by a partnership of 19 state governors to offer students, particularly adult learners, the chance to go to college while working and caring for their families.
