{"id":25124,"date":"2019-03-12T16:03:20","date_gmt":"2019-03-12T20:03:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.westbendnews.net\/autonews\/?p=25124"},"modified":"2019-03-12T16:53:01","modified_gmt":"2019-03-12T20:53:01","slug":"elmer-woodcox","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.westbendnews.net\/autonews\/elmer-woodcox\/","title":{"rendered":"Elmer Woodcox"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"318\" height=\"464\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.westbendnews.net\/autonews\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/Woodcox-Elmer-001.jpg?resize=318%2C464&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-25125\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.westbendnews.net\/autonews\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/Woodcox-Elmer-001.jpg?w=318&amp;ssl=1 318w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.westbendnews.net\/autonews\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/Woodcox-Elmer-001.jpg?resize=260%2C379&amp;ssl=1 260w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.westbendnews.net\/autonews\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/Woodcox-Elmer-001.jpg?resize=160%2C233&amp;ssl=1 160w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 318px) 100vw, 318px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Elmer Woodcox<\/strong>, 92, of Antwerp died Tuesday, March 12, 2019, at the home of his granddaughter in Kendallville, Indiana.<br>He was born May 26, 1926, in Antwerp to John and Clara (Courtney) Woodcox.<br>He honorably served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, where he played the bass with Navy Band.\u00a0\u00a0<br>He first married Iona Carr.\u00a0 She preceded him in death in 1991.\u00a0 He then married Iris Chamberlin.\u00a0 She survives in Elkhart, Indiana.<br>Mr. Woodcox retired from International Harvester in Fort Wayne, Indiana.<br>He was a member of the VFW Post 4087 and the Masonic Lodge, both in Antwerp.<br>Elmer had a passion for making and shooting guns.\u00a0 He enjoyed reloading ammunition, fishing, hunting, and gardening.\u00a0<br>Also surviving are two grandchildren, John Paul (Carla) Woodcox of Crawfordsville, IN and Lori (Rickie) Hoover of Kendallville, IN; and five great-grandchildren, John Dustin Woodcox, Cayla Woodcox, Jacob Hoover, Jessica Chrobak, and Christin Hoover.<br>He was also preceded in death by three children, Judy Woodcox, John Woodcox, and infant Woodcox; three great-grandchildren, Alexis Woodcox, Cody Hoover, and Rickie Hoover; and a brother, Kenneth Woodcox.<br>Funeral services will be Friday, March 15, 2019, at 1 p.m. at Harbor of Love Baptist Church, 2353 South Lima Road, Kendallville, IN with Rev.
