More than $12,300 in fourth-quarter grants was distributed to 9 local organizations through the co-op\u2019s Operation Round Up program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Participating members \u201cround up\u201d their monthly electric bills to the next dollar, with the extra pennies being used to help fund community charities and groups.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since Operation Round Up\u2019s inception in 2010, it has provided more than $404,806 to over 125 organizations in Indiana and Ohio. The most recent recipients are Putnam County 4-H Council\u2019s Farm Safety Program, Paulding Exempted Village Schools\u2019 Science Olympiad Team, Payne Fire Department, American Red Cross, Cornerstone Youth, East Allen Family Center\u2019s LEARN Resource Center, Continental Community Library, Quarry Farm Nature Preserve and Conservation Farm, and Paulding Soil and Water Conservation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A board of trustees, composed of co-op members and separate from the PPEC board, oversees the application process. Organizations can apply for Operation Round Up assistance by contacting Paulding Putnam Electric Co-op at 1-800-686-2357 or visiting www.ppec.coop\/operation-round-up.
