Wayne, Indiana, the son of the late Calvin and Enid (Funk) Essex.<\/p>\n<p>He was a 1958 graduate of Northside High School in Ft. Wayne.<\/p>\n<p>Bud served in the Nation Guard for 3 years and was in the Army Reserves for 5 years.<\/p>\n<p>He worked at Community Memorial Hospital in the maintenance department for 20 years.<\/p>\n<p>Bud was a member of the St. John Lutheran Church in Hicksville, where he sang in the choir. He was also a member of the Hicksville Kiwanis Club, where he served several terms as president and was a member of the Hicksville Village Players.<\/p>\n<p>Bud is survived by his children, Bruce, Lori (Joe) Sarnes; six grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; siblings, John (Kathy) Essex and Donna (Vern) Doehrman.<\/p>\n<p>He was preceded in death by Nancy Essex, siblings, Lowell and Virginia.<\/p>\n<p>Funeral services for Bud will be Tuesday at 11:00 at Smith &amp; Brown Funeral Home, Hicksville. Visitation will be Monday from 2:00 to 6:00 at the funeral home.<\/p>\n<p>Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Cemetery, Ft.
