The Woodlan FFA Chapter recently held their 21st Annual Community Chili Supper\/ Chapter Chili Cook-off event held in the Woodlan Jr.\/ Sr. High School Auditeria. FFA members choose competitive groups and were assigned serving tables. Seventeen groups of Jr. High and High School members secured their secret recipe and diligently worked on making their unique Chili Cook-Off dish to serve.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The event started with the Officers conducting the FFA Opening Ceremony. After reciting their duties, Chloe Fuller, chapter Secretary, called the roll of members and guests. There were 70 members and 180 guests present in attendance along with the Woodlan FFA Chapter\u2019s special guest speaker, Nathan Deatrick. Nathan is this year\u2019s Indiana State FFA Southern Region Vice President. As the night proceeded, guests and members tasted a variety of different chili\u2019s. The guests voted for their favorite chili and the secret judges also voted on their favorite chili dishes. The team with the most votes won the People\u2019s Choice Award. The Judge\u2019s Choice Award was also tabulated. While the votes were being tallied, the\u00a0 <\/span>following business and other representatives were recognized.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Chili Supper sponsor Horizon Bank and Mr. Eric Ashman, Horizon Bank representative, East Allen County School\u2019s Assistant Superintendent of Secondary Education, Deborah Watson, Woodlan\u2019s High School Principal, Mr. Kern, Woodlan\u2019s High School Assistant Principal, Ms. Rodgers, Former Woodlan Teacher, Ms. Heffernan, and the Woodlan Ag. Advisory Board were thanked for their year long, continued support of the Woodlan FFA chapter.<\/p>\n

After presenting 18 Discovery Degrees pins to the seventh and eighth graders who has accomplished the requirements for this degree, the winners of the Chili Cook Off winners were announced. Winning the High School Popular Vote was FFA team 4, consisting of\u00a0 <\/span>Elly Spieth, Evy Spieth, Hayley Oldfield, and Madi Werling. Winning the Judges Vote was FFA team 8, with team members Emalee Gray, Erika Whitehead, Allison Hearne, and Kacie Gray. The Jr. High Popular vote winner was FFA team 14, consisting of Olivia Schaefer, Josie Fisher, Adanery Molina and the winning the judges vote was FFA team 15, with Haylee Basting, Ella Tripp, and Addie Goheen. The Woodlan FFA Chapter is proud to announce that this year marked the 21st Annual Woodlan FFA Community, Chili Cook-Off.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
