This week at Kiwanis, members Stan Searing and Lisa McClure talked about the history of the Paulding County Area Foundation. Paul Marshal donated his land and money upon his death to the Foundation. Already existing but low on funds, the Foundation really took off after Mr. Marshal\u2019s donation. His goal was to help young farmers succeed and stay in the county to farm. As funds grew the Foundation turned to Bashore Reineck Stoller and Waterman CPAs for accounting help and turned to Edward Jones and FSC Securities for financial guidance. They worked off Williams County\u2019s bylaws and have since made them their own. Lisa McClure, Foundation director detailed some of the funds, grants, and scholarships the Foundation has to offer. The Foundation gave over 300 charitable donations last year, granted over $100,000 in scholarships, and $250,000 in grants to help non-profits. The Young Farmers Program, a big part of the Foundation and Paul Marshal\u2019s vision has helped 22 young farmers with $700,000 in funds this year. You can leave your legacy and start a fund at the Foundation, or donate to an existing fund in your name. All money raised has gone back into the community for the betterment of the people in it.
