\"\"The Paulding County Carnegie Library will be featuring a Monarch Butterfly exhibit until early fall. The exhibit will be in the children\u2019s room located in the lower level of the historic Carnegie library. \u201cThe Monarch butterfly is one of our favorites and with this exhibit, children will be able to watch each life stage,\u201d shared Sue Deatrick, Head of Youth Services.<\/p>\n

The exhibit includes a nursery for the Monarch eggs and first instar stages, a transition place for our caterpillars as they molt their skin to a third instar, and a larger netted cage for our fourth and fifth instar stages caterpillars or \u201ccats\u201d for short. \u201cWe already have a Monarch who has spun their chrysalis,\u201d shares Susan Pieper, librarian and Monarch enthusiast. \u201cWe will watch for it to eclose (come out of the chrysalis) around the 27th of August.\u201d<\/p>\n

This educational exhibit includes a poster displaying the life-stages and containers for each stage of the butterfly\u2019s life. From egg to butterfly can take about four weeks. \u201cThe butterflies eclosing in September and October are the final generation of the year. These are the Monarchs that fly to Mexico for the winter,\u201d shares Pieper.<\/p>\n

The exhibit is open during library hours, Monday-Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and on Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The library is located at 205 South Main Street in Paulding.
