The Paulding County Ohio Amateur Radio Club held a repeater work day on Saturday, July 14th. Eight members removed the old coax and antennas and installed new hardline and antennas. The repeater allows amateur radio operators to extend the range of their handheld and mobile radios. It also allows the amateur radio operators in Paulding County to communicate with operators in surrounding counties. During threating weather the repeater is used to transmit spotter information to either Fort Wayne or Defiance where it is relayed to the National Weather Service in North Webster, IN.<\/p>\n
For those with a scanner wishing to listen to the repeater, we operate on a frequency of 147.135 FM. Monday evenings at 7:00 p.m. we hold our \u201cnet\u201d. A net is where a group of amateur radio operators report in and converse with each other. It is basically a practice session preparing us for communications in the event of an emergency situation.<\/p>\n
