On Saturday April 14, 2018 the Paulding FFA chapter held their 90th annual FFA banquet.\u00a0 Multiple members of the community and school board members attended. The banquet was well attended with 310 people. This is an increase from last year, with only 290. The theme for this year\u2019s banquet was \u201cLearning from our past to succeed in our future\u201d.\u00a0 Guest speaker, Brad Hurtig, spoke about the challenges he faced after an industrial accident that left him with no hands and how changing our surrounding to benefit us isn\u2019t always what we should do.<\/p>\n

Many awards were given out to current and past members as well as the alumni. Awards were given to all members who participated in CDEs (career development events), fruit sale, and past members for their achievements. The alumni were awarded with an honorary degree. Members were also awarded for getting their green hand degree and chapter degree. Some were also recognized for being third and fourth year members.\u00a0 Scholar awards were given out to members who had the highest GPA in their class. Star awards were also given to members who were excellent leaders in and out of their classroom. The alumni awarded scholarships which were given to graduated and current high school senior members.<\/p>\n

Chapter president, Kalyn Strahley, gave a very inspirational retiring speech, following with all 2017-2018 officers coming in for a hug. Once all awards were handed out, the moment most FFA members were looking forward to was next, 2018-2019 officer induction. The graduating FFA officers announced who would be receiving the new officer positions. The 2018-2019 officer team is as followed: President- Kalyn Strahley, Vice president- Courtney Luderman, Secretary- Jordyn Merriman, Treasurer- Jennifer Stahl, Reporter- Sydney Reineck, Parliamentarian- Emma Horstman, Student Advisor- Riley Noffsinger, and Sentinel- Shannon Hale. The team is excited for another promising year of agriculture education classes and FFA events.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
