There will be many opportunities for worship during Holy Week at Woodburn United Methodist Church.<\/p>\n
The Holy Week services begin with a Maundy Thursday Service on Thursday, March 29 at 7:00 p.m.\u00a0 This will be a traditional worship service including Communion.\u00a0 Communion at Woodburn United Methodist is open to any who wish to come to the Lord\u2019s Table.<\/p>\n
On Friday, March 30, there will be a Community Good Friday service at 1:00 p.m at Woodburn United Methodist Church.\u00a0 This will be a Traditional Service, but will also include a presentation of our Easter play, \u201cThe Other Carpenter\u201d.<\/p>\n
Then, on Saturday evening (March 31) at 7:00 p.m., there will be a performance of the drama, The Other Carpenter by John F. Wells and produced by special arrangement with Christian Publishers. \u00a0 Follow with us in this play as Dathan, a hardworking carpenter, and members of his family and community live through Good Friday until Easter and how it affects their lives.\u00a0 This play is produced and directed by Dawn Patterson.\u00a0 Following is the cast & crew of this play:<\/p>\n

Refreshments will be provided at the end of the program by the ladies of the church. There will be no charge for the play, but free will donations will be accepted to support the WUMC Thespians for future programs.<\/p>\n
On Easter Sunday (April 1), there will be a Sunrise Easter Cantata at 7:00 a.m. The cantata is O What A Savior. This cantata was created by Russell Mauldin & Sue C. Smith, arranged and orchestrated by Russell Mauldin, and under the direction of Dawn Patterson.\u00a0 The cantata begins with the moving introductory song, \u201cOur Great Savior Medley\u201d with \u201cO What A Savior\u201d, \u201cOur Great Savior\u201d, and \u201cAlleluia! Alleluia!\u201d.\u00a0 Next we move on to Palm Sunday and Jesus\u2019 entrance into Jerusalem with the rousing \u201cHail Jesus Medley\u201d, with the \u201cVictory Chant\u201d (featuring a solo by Jay Dial), and \u201cBecause We Believe\u201d.\u00a0 With the next song, \u201cSomething Beautiful\u201d, we contemplate all of the miracles done by Jesus.\u00a0 Next, we realize that Jesus laid down on the cross, a willing sacrifice for us with the lovely \u201cEmbrace the Cross\u201d. We then realize just how much He gave us with the haunting \u201cJesus Paid It All\u201d. Finally, Easter Sunday arrives with the joyous \u201cHe Is Risen!\u201d We then go on with the beautiful theme song, \u201cO What A Savior\u201d with a solo by Lisa Dial.\u00a0 The cantata concludes with the infectious \u201cThat\u2019s Why We Praise Him\u201d with \u201cAlleluia! Alleluia!\u201d.<\/p>\n

There is no charge for the cantata, but free-will donations will be accepted to help purchase materials for future cantatas by the Woodburn Choir.<\/p>\n
The Cantata will be followed by an Easter Breakfast at 7:45 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall provided by the United Methodist Men and an Easter Egg Hunt for the children.\u00a0 There will be a free-will donation for the breakfast.<\/p>\n
The traditional Easter Service will be held at 9 AM and will also have Communion that is open to all.\u00a0 There will be Children\u2019s Church available during the service (under grade 4).\u00a0 There will be no Sunday School classes following the service, so that everyone may attend family dinners.<\/p>\n
