February 1st, 1918 marked the beginning of agriculture education at Paulding High School. The Paulding Ag Education program celebrated this date 100 years later last Thursday. It all began when Smith-Hughes started and helped fund vocational agriculture courses in schools. The Smith-Hughes act, Section 10 says, \u201cthat such schools shall provide for directed or supervised practice in agriculture, either on a farm provided for by the school or other farm, for at least six months per year.\u201d Without this act the Paulding Agriculture Program would not have any of their successes. The Paulding Ag Program started with an all-boys class of 16, taught by Mr. Atwood, the first Paulding Ag teacher. Today the Paulding Ag Program has over 90 members with Mrs. Staci Miller as their teacher. Paulding Agricultural Program and FFA has accomplished so much for the past years and would like to recognize that. The chapter has decided their chapter FFA banquet theme to be, \u201cLearning from Our Past to Succeed in Our Future.\u201d and they have done just that. The banquet will be held on April 14th at Paulding High School where they will honor present and past members.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
