ANTWERP – Two Paulding County rivals squared off Friday night in Green Meadows Conference girls basketball action with visiting Wayne Trace holding on for a 42-38 victory over host Antwerp.<\/p>\n

Wayne Trace sealed the game at the free throw line, getting a pair of free throws each from Sadie Sinn and Gracie Gudakunst with less than 24 seconds remaining to wrap up the victory.<\/p>\n

Antwerp battled with the Raiders all night long, taking a couple of early leads but never being able to get over the hump late in the contest. The Archers tied the game at 27-27 and pulled within one at 33-32 but the Raiders would hold on for the victory.<\/p>\n

Wayne Trace improved to 7-2 overall while Antwerp dropped to 5-5 in all games. It was the league opener for both schools.<\/p>\n

The Raiders were led by Claire Sinn with 12 points while sister Brooke Sinn added ten.<\/p>\n

Gracie Gudakunst and Sadie Sinn chipped in eight and six<\/p>\n

points, respectively, followed by Chelsea Sinn (three), Lily Sinn (two) and Kaylee Shepherd (one).<\/p>\n

Heather Oberlin was the lone Archer to reach double figures with 16 points and Rachel Williamson posted nine.<\/p>\n

Hope Smith recorded six while Karsyn Brumett added five and Chelsea Johanns chipped in two points for Antwerp.<\/p>\n

In the junior varsity game, Kenadie Daeger scored nine points to lead Wayne Trace to a 26-point win over the Archers.<\/p>\n

Katrina Stoller and Sara Edwards both chipped in six points for the Raiders, who are now 5-4 on the year.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
