Recently WLS was blessed with the opportunity to provide a check for $2,000 and some much needed supplies to Serving Simply.\u00a0 Serving Simply has been the focus of our 2nd quarter chapel offering.\u00a0 Every\u00a0Saturday, at Freimann Square in Fort Wayne, this group serves the homeless.\nOur 7th and 8th graders were able to take part in this ministry one Saturday in early December when they joined Serving Simply at Friemann Square and helped hand out items to the homeless. Serving Simply provides food, clothing, and other items we often take for granted.\u00a0 Yet, they provide so much more than these items to these people in need.\u00a0 They also provide hope.
\nThe homeless in Fort Wayne have come to know that Serving Simply will be there every Saturday. Through this regular presence and service, the homeless can rely on those that lead this group every week. The leader of Serving Simply recently visited with all of our students and shared a little bit about what they do.\u00a0 His message to the students was twofold: he thanked them for their contributions and he also hopes they are thankful for all they have.\u00a0 While we are blessed with a warm bed, toothpaste, and regular meals, the homeless do not have access to these types of things regularly.
