I am very proud to get this photo and to know the history.

Mr. Feasby has a lot of other mounted species that he had a lot of problems to secure, but I am very glad that those birds and animals are in good hands now.

That picture is of an adult male snowy owl. You notice he is all white with some small dark spots. Mr. Feasby lives out on CR 144 and he is a good guy to talk to. In that area from there on to Woodburn and the Gar Creek Road we think there to be a Snowy Owl nest. We have heard reports of the owls in that area a number of times. More so there, than any other place around here.

Please keep us informed.

See ya!

Changing the National Anthem

By: Stan Jordan

BOSTON (July 4, 2014) USS Constitution fires a 17-gun salute near U.S. Coast Guard Base Boston during the ship’s Independence Day underway demonstration in Boston Harbor. As is I sit here and mull that over, that would be hard to do.

Now I agree that song is sort of hard to sing and there are other patriotic air around that would be alright, but can you find one that would suit everyone.

As I understand some of this group claims that the writer of the poem that our National Anthem came from, was at one time, a slave owner. Well I think that reason is far fetched. That was about one hundred and fifty years ago and is a little on the childish side.

Now, I like the song of Kate Smith, God Bless America, but that won’t work because of the people who are atheist.

There is a song, I’m Proud To Be An American, but that writer also says “God Bless America” and the atheist would complain.

In that poem about the U.S. Constitution is says “The Harpies of the shore shall pluck the eagle from my sea” and that is what we have here…Harpies

See ya!

Veterans Day Assembly @ A.H.S.

By: Stan Jordan

I just spent one of the best days of my life out at the Antwerp High School. They had an assembly for any and all veterans.

Mr. Lichty, the high school principal, was a very fine organizer, master of ceremonies and he made us feel welcome and at ease.

We had the welcome and the Presentation of Colors by Boy Scout Troop No. 143.

Then we had the Pledge of Allegiance by the elementary student council and the National Anthem by the high school band, directed by Andrea Newell.

Then they had a fast moving video about a number of places in WWII and the other wars and it was called, “I fought for you.” Then Scout Troop 143 presented a fine hand made American Flag to Marty Hunt of the local VFW.

There was a performance of the second grade bell ringers, directed by Mary Smith, that was very entertaining. Then the high school choir, under the direction of Mary Smith, entertained us.

The high school band, Andrea Newell directing, saluted all the branches of the service with a rousing rendition of all their fight songs. Then the retiring of the Colors by Scout Troop 143.

Then the high school principal, Travis Lichty, had a few closing remarks and invited all the veterans and their guests to stay for lunch and that was out of this world! Let me tell you about it.

Now I would like to write about the Veteran Day assembly from a veteran’s view point.

It was the nicest one ever, I talked to a number of vets and they all agreed. We had the most veterans there than we have ever had. We had boys from Paulding, Payne, 2 from Sherwood, Napoleon, St. Mary’s, Cecil, Ft. Wayne and Grover Hill.

At the luncheon, Mrs. Deb Altic and her helpers, had the area decorated so nice and the food and drinks were top self. As I understand the pretty waitresses were from the high school choir and we wanted for nothing.

My good friend, Steve Knapp, assisted me all morning. His Honor Mayor Ray DeLong and Marty Hunt from the VFW both gave me a hand and asked that I pass it on that they both thought that was the best assembly ever.

So on behalf of all the veterans and their spouses or guest, we want to thank Mr. Lichty and the school administration and all the students for a fine luncheon and entertainment.

See ya!

Picture of Snowy Owl By: Stan Jordan Mr. Feasby was in this office the other day and brought me this

"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paywalled_content":false,"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false

26
9094,9093,72,9095
post-19767","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-sjordan","tag-changing-the-national-anthem","tag-picture-of-snowy-owl","tag-stan-jordan","tag-veterans-day-assembly-a-h-s
"publishpress_future_workflow_manual_trigger":
["GET
