The cantata was created by Russell Mauldin and Sue C. Smith and arranged by Russell Mauldin. The Cantata is under the direction of Dawn Patterson.\u00a0 This Cantata, as stated in the narration, follows Mary and Joseph on a \u201cjourney that began with surprise, danger and uncertainty. It took them from the town of Nazareth to Bethlehem, to the darkness of a stable and the wonder of a miraculous birth.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The cantata begins with the beautiful \u201cBethlehem Overture with O Come, All Ye Faithful.\u201d This then segues into \u201cO Little Town (The Glory of Christmas)\u201d by Matt Redman.<\/p>\n<p>Our journey continues as we follow Mary and Joseph with the \u201cJourney Medley with Hark! The Herald Angels Sing\/We Three Kings.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Next, the audience will go to the little village that was the end of the journey this night for Mary and Joseph with the haunting \u201cHow Far (Part 1) by Matt Redman.<\/p>\n<p>Many times we think of Mary and the Christ Child, but how often do we think of Joseph. This next song, \u201cStrange Way to Save the World, gives us Joseph\u2019s point of view of the extraordinary events. This song contains a solo by Dick Hall and a duet with Dick Hall and Dennis Jackson.<\/p>\n<p>We next follow the arrival of the shepherds with the traditional English melody, \u201cWhat Child Is This?<\/p>\n<p>We pull the entire story together with the Gaither song, \u201cIt\u2019s Still the Greatest Story Ever Told.\u00a0 This song contains a solo by Lisa Dial.<\/p>\n<p>As the narration states, \u201cthe greatest miracle of all is how far He would go to redeem us.\u201d This is embodied in the moving, \u201cHow Far (Part 2).<\/p>\n<p>The cantata then concludes with the joyous \u201cCome to Bethlehem Finale,\u00a0 which includes \u201cIt\u2019s Still the Greatest Story Ever Told\u201d, \u201cAngels We Have Heard on High\u201d, and \u201cJoy to the World!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The members of the choir include the following:<\/p>\n<p>Soprano \u2013 Cheryl Coleman, Lisa Dial, Joyce Drayer<\/p>\n<p>Alto \u2013 Ruth Corn, Diane Hall, Dawn James, Dawn Patterson, LaVon Womack<\/p>\n<p>Baritone \u2013 Dick Hall<\/p>\n<p>Bass \u2013 Dennis Jackson<\/p>\n<p>Narrators \u2013 Dick Hall and Dawn Patterson<\/p>\n<p>Sound Tech \u2013 Sean Patterson<\/p>\n<p>Pastor Terry McDonald and the members of the Woodburn United Methodist Church would like to invite the public to join us in our celebration of the birth of our Savior by attending our worship in music. This Cantata will be a part of the worship service on Dec. 3 at 9:00 AM in the Sanctuary. There will be refreshments to follow the service in the Fellowship Hall, provided by the ladies of the church.
