Northwest State Community College is pleased to share the updated state and national rankings of its Practical Nursing (PN) and Registered Nursing (RN) programs. For the period of April 2016-March 2017, the PN program was ranked #1 of 62 in Ohio, and #1 of 1199 in the nation. For that same time period, the RN program was ranked #8 of 99 (top 10%) in Ohio, and #166 or 1232 (top 14%) in the nation.<\/p>\n
These rankings are based on the percentage of NSCC graduates who pass the National Council Licensure Examination, abbreviated as NCLEX-PN or NCLEX-RN. Graduates of the NSCC nursing programs are required to pass the NCLEX in order to gain entry-level employment in various healthcare fields.<\/p>\n
Patti Altman, NSCC dean of nursing, sees the rankings as a shared success between great educators and great students. \u201cWe have a very dedicated group of faculty that have worked very hard to put together a curriculum that will meet the (industry and employer) needs and allow our graduates to be successful,\u201d Altman said. All NSCC nursing programs are fully-approved by the Board of Nursing and the RN program is fully accredited as well, which adds another layer of confidence from area employers as well as students.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe want to educate and train our students, so they can have great career opportunities. The need for nurses continues to grow. The more students that graduate from our program, the better the quality healthcare is in this area. And we have had tremendously strong job placement for our graduates for several years,\u201d Altman concluded.<\/p>\n
Northwest State offers the LPN to RN degree program, the Registered Nursing degree program, and the Practical Nursing certificate program.
