Paulding County \u2013 The Van Wert Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a single vehicle fatal crash that occurred on US 24 at County Road 11 in Paulding County.<\/p>\n

At approximately 4:55 am a 2016 International semi driven by George J. Weiler, age 55, of Bowling Green, Ohio was traveling eastbound on US 24. \u00a0Mr. Weiler\u2019s semi traveled off the left side of the roadway striking the bridge at County Road 11. The semi continued over the bridge and onto County Road 11 where it caught on fire.<\/p>\n

Mr. Weiler sustained fatal injuries as a result of the traffic crash and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Paulding County Coroner\u2019s Office.<\/p>\n

Alcohol use is not suspected to be a factor in the crash and crash remains under investigation.<\/p>\n

The Van Wert Post was assisted on scene by the Paulding County Sheriff\u2019s Office, Antwerp Fire and EMS, Ohio Department of Transportation, Paulding County Engineers Office, Hoagy Wrecker Service, and Robinson\u2019s Wrecker Service.<\/p>\n

US 24 was temporarily closed in both directions during the investigation but has since been reopened.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
