Congressman Bob Latta (R-Bowling Green), Chairman of the Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Digital Commerce and Consumer Protection (DCCP), highlighted Ohio\u2019s role as an \u2018e-commerce hub\u2019 in his opening statement at a hearing entitled, \u201cDisrupter Series: Delivering to Consumers.\u201d Testifying in front of the committee were representatives from Postmates, Flirtey, and the Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International. In his opening statement, Chairman Latta said, \u201cThe U.S. e-commerce market is projected to reach $500 billion by 2018 and is expected to see substantial growth by 2020. When we think of e-commerce, rarely do we consider its physical footprint \u2013 the process of actually fulfilling the online order and facilitating its delivery. However, my home state of Ohio has become somewhat of an e-commerce hub. Ohio offers favorable geographic location, a workable transportation network, a business friendly regulatory framework and skilled laborers. Because of these key items, Ohio is home to roughly 760 warehouse establishments, including many e-commerce fulfillment operations.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
