The areas around Payne to Paulding along the Flatrock Creek are flooding with waters rising quickly. Residents said the flood waters began to cover State Road 49 around 4pm when another downpour added to the deluge.<\/p>\n<p>State Road 500 between Payne and Paulding has areas that are flooded even though the road has no barricade blocking drivers. SR 49 is blocked between SR 111 to south of Payne.<\/p>\n<div class=\"jetpack-video-wrapper\"><span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; display: block;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"youtube-player\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/TDIx2r8tVJs?version=3&#038;rel=1&#038;showsearch=0&#038;showinfo=1&#038;iv_load_policy=1&#038;fs=1&#038;hl=en-US&#038;autohide=2&#038;wmode=transparent\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" style=\"border:0;\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts allow-same-origin allow-popups allow-presentation allow-popups-to-escape-sandbox\"><\/iframe><\/span><\/div>\n<p>Danny Endicott of Payne said, \u201cThe water levels are near the 2015 levels.\u201d as he showed us where the previous mark was on SR 49.\u00a0 Danny pointed out the Benton Township workers laying out sandbags to help stop the water getting too close to the houses.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_17735\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-17735\" style=\"width: 1016px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-17735\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.westbendnews.net\/autonews\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/Payne-Flooding-May-2017EM159018.jpg?resize=800%2C441\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"441\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-17735\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Payne Ohio Flooding May 2017 &#8211; Route 49<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>A lot of the flooding has taken place as more farm ground is being tiled to move the water quicker to the creeks, but the creeks in their current state struggle to handle that increasing volume. It looks much of problems could be resolved if the Flat Rock Creek was dredged out from the state line all through Payne to Paulding.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_17736\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-17736\" style=\"width: 334px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\" wp-image-17736\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.westbendnews.net\/autonews\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/Payne-Flooding-May-2017EM159023.jpg?resize=334%2C440\" alt=\"\" width=\"334\" height=\"440\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-17736\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Payne Ohio Flooding May 2017 &#8211; Road 47<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Road 47 on the east side of Payne had water up to the bridge and is completely barricaded. The water is flowing quickly and looks like the road may be eroded quickly. Other roads around the creek are flooded, so be careful traveling. There is heavy flooding in Van Wert, OH and Allen County, IN too.<\/p>\n<p>As long as there is no more rain, then the flooding is estimated to crest tomorrow around noon.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Today and tomorrow you must be extra careful when driving.
