Ted Litzenberg, a 1971 graduate of Woodlan High School, lives near Harlan with his wife, Marian. Ted and Marian have two children and three grandchildren. Ted is a carpenter and worked as a construction superintendent for Colonial Homes for many years. Due to struggling with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) , Ted has been unable to work for 16 years.<\/p>\n
Ted went to Turnstone Center for Children and Adults for several years, where he received therapy until he could no longer physically tolerate it. Turnstone provided Ted with a used 2003 lift-equipped vehicle so he could be transported to Turnstone and his doctor appointments. That vehicle must now be replaced and the Litzenbergs need the help of the community.<\/p>\n
The Harlan Lions Club is helping with the effort to replace this van by sponsoring a benefit dinner and auction for Ted and his family. The goal is to raise $36,000 to enable Ted to acquire a used van to safely transport him in his power chair. His current van has over 200,000 miles, headlights that don\u2019t work and experiences frequent breakdowns which is unsafe for him on the road. A new van will enable Ted to be more independent and improve his quality of life. The van will be equipped with the necessary safety equipment needed to meet his needs.<\/p>\n
This benefit is scheduled for Friday, April 28 at the Ekklesia Church in Harlan, beginning at 5:00 p.m. The cost of the dinner will be a free will donation.<\/p>\n
