Heritage opened a 9 point lead after 1 quarter and made it stand up as the Patriots knocked off Woodlan 51-47 in boys Allen County Athletic Conference action last week.<\/p>\n

The Patriots opened a 13-4 advantage after 8 minutes of action and widened the margin to 27-16 at halftime.<\/p>\n

Woodlan would rally in the third, outscoring the host Patriots 13-9 to trim the deficit to 36-29 at the end of 3 periods.<\/p>\n

The Warriors again outscored Heritage in the fourth quarter by an 18-15 margin, but it wasn\u2019t enough as Heritage held on for the 51-47 victory.<\/p>\n

Sophomore Walter Knapke led the way for the Patriots with 17 points, including hitting 5 of 7 3-point attempts on the night. Junior Abe Beard and senior Rylie Schane chipped in a dozen points each for Heritage.<\/p>\n

Junior Lamar Hudson (6), senior Malcolm Smith (2) and sophomore Cameron Mitchel (2) also scored for Heritage.<\/p>\n

Woodlan was led by junior Aaron Hahn, who finished with 13 points, and senior Austin Fancher chipped in 10 points.<\/p>\n

Other scorers for the visiting Warriors were sophomore Josh Gerig (9), senior Deontae Biggs (7), junior Trevon McCarter (5) and junior Micah Robbins (3).<\/p>\n

Schane grabbed 6 rebounds for Heritage, which outrebounded the Warriors 19-17. Knapke picked up 5 boards, 3 assists and 3 steals while Beard hauled down 4 boards and dished out 5 assists. Schane also had 3 assists for the Patriots.<\/p>\n

Hahn also topped Woodlan with 5 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals with Fancher recording 3 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals. McCarter also had 3 boards for Woodlan.<\/p>\n

Heritage connected on 20 of 34 shots (59 percent) compared to Woodlan\u2019s 19 of 44 (43 percent). The Warriors had fewer turnovers, 9-15.<\/p>\n

On Thursday, Woodlan posted a 63-59 victory over South Adams to improve to 10-7 overall and 4-1 in the conference.<\/p>\n

McCarter paced the Warriors with 17 points while Hahn added 16 points and Fancher chipped in 14.<\/p>\n

Woodlan hit 9 3-pointers on the night, led by McCarter with 3 while Hahn and Fancher connected on 2 each.<\/p>\n

Hahn grabbed a team high 16 boards for the Warriors as well with Gerig hauling down 11 boards. Hahn and Gerig also dished out 3 assists apiece and Fancher picked up 2 steals.<\/p>\n

Woodlan will resume action on February 14 as the Warriors visit Eastside.<\/p>\n
