{"id":16567,"date":"2017-02-06T11:24:36","date_gmt":"2017-02-06T16:24:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.westbendnews.net\/autonews\/?p=16567"},"modified":"2017-02-06T11:24:36","modified_gmt":"2017-02-06T16:24:36","slug":"state-patrol-investigating-fatal-crash-on-hicksville-edgerton-road","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.westbendnews.net\/autonews\/state-patrol-investigating-fatal-crash-on-hicksville-edgerton-road\/","title":{"rendered":"State Patrol Investigating Fatal Crash on Hicksville-Edgerton Road"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.westbendnews.net\/autonews\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/police-lights.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignright  wp-image-9731\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.westbendnews.net\/autonews\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/police-lights.jpg?resize=302%2C121\" alt=\"\" width=\"302\" height=\"121\" \/><\/a>Milford Township &#8211; The Defiance Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a single vehicle fatal crash that occurred on Hicksville-Edgerton Road north of Kramer Road in Defiance County&#8217;s Milford Township.<\/p>\n<p>On Sunday, February 5th at approximately 11:17pm a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by Joshua Pettit, age 38, of Edgerton, Ohio was traveling northbound on Hicksville-Edgerton Road north of Kramer Road and was attempting to elude deputies from the Defiance County Sheriff&#8217;s Office.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Pettit failed to maintain control of the vehicle and traveled off the east edge of the roadway. Mr. Pettit overcorrected traveling off the west side of the roadway. Mr. Pettit&#8217;s vehicle continued into a field before overturning. Mr. Pettit was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle. Mr. Pettit was pronounced dead at the scene by the Defiance County Coroner.<\/p>\n<p>A passenger in the vehicle, Corey A.
