Antwerp Local School recently purchased a 3-D printer with funds from the 21st Century Learning grant. The printer will be used by the after-school tutoring program and by a variety of other classrooms in the district, including industrial arts\/auto CAD. Upon returning from winter break, students and staff from elementary through high school watched in awe as the printer created a three-dimensional house model.<\/p>\n

This meeting took place following the annual meeting on Monday, January 9. The previous minutes were approved at the meeting.<\/p>\n

The Financial summary statement was presented by Christine Stuart.<\/p>\n

Receipts $577,479.73<\/p>\n

Expenditures $777,139.49<\/p>\n

interest $2772.38<\/p>\n

The financial statement was approved by the board.<\/p>\n

Mike Bute said the second semester has started and the mid term is Friday, February 10. Aaron Hawley was the spelling bee champion. January 30 at 7:00 pm at Paulding Elementary will be holding the county spelling bee.<\/p>\n

The homecoming Dance will be coming up in February 11 after the basketball game until 11 pm<\/p>\n

Vantage Representative visit will be Wednesday, January 18. On the 19th Vantage will be giving away in a raffle a big plaque at the ball game.<\/p>\n

Principal Tim Manz did not have any additions from the last meeting since school had not been in session.<\/p>\n

Marty Miller gave out certificates to the board members who have served and given their time to the school district.<\/p>\n

Harold Gotke was not at the meeting on this night, but Marty said they now have a 3d printer and he showed a sample of it from the operation. It\u2019s new this year. Most of the funding came from the Paulding Putnum Electric Coop grant that was applied for last year.<\/p>\n

Marty also said that major problem was solved with the HVAC system with one of the fans turning the wrong direction. He also said the electric bill is much lower and we have had the two lowest electric bills on record at the school. The gas bill is also significantly lower now and some times half of what it was seven years ago. Dr. Miller said there was an auction for the electric price and the price got down to .05386. This saved almost 20% over last year and will be in effect for 3 years. Christine and Dennis were watching this while it was going on and was very pleased with what they saw.<\/p>\n

Dr. Miller said he was working with Garmin-Miller on getting the press box done for the next football season. He has talked with Christine Williamson about this. The projection on the new baseball field usage is Spring of 2018.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
