Friday, December 16th at 2:00 p.m., Christmas bags packed full of gifts were generously given to Lutheran Children\u2019s Hospital from Christ\u2019s Starfish Foundation. In preparation for Santa\u2019s visit to Lutheran Children\u2019s Hospital on Christmas morning, the gift bags were delivered a little early so every pediatric patient in the hospital on or near Christmas day will receive a gift bag.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe do what we do in obedience to our Lord\u2019s call on our lives to help these children and their families,\u201d said Carldon Lahey, founder and president, Christ\u2019s Starfish Foundation.<\/p>\n
Christ\u2019s Starfish Foundation worked with Lutheran\u2019s social workers and child life specialists to determine the patient and family\u2019s needs to provide for 150 children.<\/p>\n
The Christ\u2019s Starfish Foundation began nine years ago and it has expanded to give to Lutheran Children\u2019s Hospital and two other hospitals in Indiana for the first time this year. The organization is based in Jacksonville, Fla., however, they are expanding nationwide. They mainly focus on meeting needs of families with chronic, non-cancer issues or those in need.<\/p>\n
Patients at Lutheran Children\u2019s Hospital benefit year-round from the outpouring of kindness, especially during the holidays. Each December, there are multiple opportunities to capture the goodwill of the season through the donation of time, talent and treasure.
