A beam that was removed from the wreckage of the World Trade Center was unveiled and will become a permanent part of the park in remembrance of the first responders that gave their lives on September 11, 2001.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere are no words to describe the courage and bravery that the first responders exhibited on that fateful day,\u201d said Latta. \u201cCountless men and women rushed into burning, smoke-filled buildings without hesitation, knowing full well the grave dangers. As the years go by, the pain of September 11 does not subside for the loved ones of those lost or for us as a nation. That\u2019s why dedications like the one today are so important. We owe it to those that perished to keep the memory of their heroic actions alive.
