\"DefianceColumbus \u2013 A recent financial audit of the City of Defiance (Defiance County) by Auditor of State Dave Yost\u2019s office has returned a clean audit report. The city\u2019s excellent record keeping has qualified it for the Auditor of State Award with Distinction.<\/p>\n

\u201cGood finance is important to everything government does,\u201d Auditor Yost said. \u201cSound budgetary decisions depend on clean and accurate books.\u201d
\nThe Auditor of State Award with Distinction is presented to local governments and school districts upon the completion of a financial audit. Entities that receive the award meet the following criteria of a \u201cclean\u201d audit report:<\/p>\n

\u2022 The entity must file timely financial reports with the Auditor of State\u2019s office in the form of a CAFR (Comprehensive Annual Financial Report);
\n\u2022 The audit report does not contain any findings for recovery, material citations, material weaknesses, significant deficiencies, Single Audit findings or questioned costs;
\n\u2022 The entity\u2019s management letter contains no comments related to:
\no Ethics referrals
\no Questioned costs less than $10,000
\no Lack of timely report submission
\no Reconciliation
\no Failure to obtain a timely Single Audit
\no Findings for recovery less than $100
\no Public meetings or public records
\n\u2022 No other financial or other concerns exist that involve eligible entity.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
