{"id":13893,"date":"2016-03-24T14:39:26","date_gmt":"2016-03-24T18:39:26","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.westbendnews.net\/autonews\/?p=13893"},"modified":"2018-03-15T17:01:24","modified_gmt":"2018-03-15T21:01:24","slug":"wt-local-school-board-meeting-minutes-32416","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.westbendnews.net\/autonews\/wt-local-school-board-meeting-minutes-32416\/","title":{"rendered":"WAYNE TRACE LOCAL SCHOOL MEETING MINUTES"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>WAYNE TRACE LOCAL SCHOOL MEETING MINUTES 2\/12\/18<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Wayne Trace Local School District Board of Education met in regular session on February 12, 2018 at 6:30 p.m. in the Wayne Trace High School Lecture Room<\/p>\n<p>The following members were present: Mr. Pat Baumle, Mrs. Lisa McClure, Mr. Duane Sinn, Mrs. Kori Stoller, Mr. Dick Swary,<\/p>\n<p>Oath of Office<\/p>\n<p>The Oath of Office for the Board member and Vice President of the Board of Education was administered to Lisa McClure.<\/p>\n<p>The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.<\/p>\n<p>Roll call was taken by Treasurer, Lori Davis<\/p>\n<p>Correspondence, Recognition of Guests, Hearing of the Public*<\/p>\n<p>*Thirty minutes of public participation will be permitted.\u00a0 Each person addressing the Board will give their name and address.\u00a0 If several people wish to speak, each person will be allotted 3 minutes until the total of 30 minutes is used.\u00a0 During that period no person may speak twice until all who desire to speak have the opportunity to do so.<\/p>\n<p>*All statements should be directed to the presiding officer; no person may address or question Board members individually.<\/p>\n<p>Guests: Mrs. Beth Bauer, Instructor; Ms. Taylor Baumle, Instructor<\/p>\n<p>Ms. Baumle and Mrs. Bauer gave a presentation on autistic students.\u00a0 Their PEERS group studied how to educate an autistic child.<\/p>\n<p>6:58 p.m Executive Session<\/p>\n<p>Motion by:\u00a0 Mr. Baumle; Seconded by:\u00a0 Mr. Swary<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPursuant to Ohio Revised Code Section 121.22(G)(1) and Section 121.22(G)(4) a motion to adjourn to executive session for the purpose of considering the employment of an employee of the School District and to review negotiations or bargaining sessions with employees concerning compensation and other terms and conditions of employment.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Roll call vote:\u00a0 Mr. Baumle, Mr. Swary, Mrs. McClure, Mr. Sinn, and Mrs. Stoller, aye.<\/p>\n<p>Nay, none. Board in executive session.<\/p>\n<p>7:15 p.m. Regular session called back to order.<\/p>\n<p>Report of the Treasurer<\/p>\n<p>Treasurer, Lori Davis updated the board on what has been happening in the Treasurer\u2019s office.<\/p>\n<p>Consent Agenda Items:<\/p>\n<p>One resolution passed by the Board to approve the following consent agenda items:<\/p>\n<p>Motion by:\u00a0 Mrs. McClure; Seconded by:\u00a0 Mr. Baumle<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 to approve the minutes of the January 8, 2018 board meeting;<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 to approve the investment report and payment of bills for January 2018 as presented by the Treasurer;<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 to approve the cash reconciliation for January 2018;<\/p>\n<p>*Before we pass the consent resolution, are there any items you would like to move from the consent agenda to the discussion agenda for further discussion and\/or for separate voting purposes?<\/p>\n<p>Roll call vote:\u00a0 Mrs. McClure, Mr. Baumle, Mr. Sinn, Mrs. Stoller, and Mr. Swary, aye. Motion passed.<\/p>\n<p>Vantage Report \u2013 Pat Baumle reported that Vantage\u2019s All Boards Dinner will be April 5, 2018.\u00a0 LPN program will be starting in August 2018.<\/p>\n<p>Report of the Building Principals<\/p>\n<p>Superintendent\u2019s Report<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Curriculum<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 In-Service Days for 2018-2019: My recommendation for our professional development schedule for next school year is found in consent item C. This schedule matches what we did this school year.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Sarah Franz recently conducted her annual College Credit Plus meeting with students and parents who are interested in exploring this option for next school year.\u00a0 The meeting was well attended with close to 40 students and parents at the meeting and another 20 students coming to see Sarah to get more information in the days following the meeting.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Digital academy update:\u00a0 We currently have 40 students enrolled in our online digital academy.\u00a0 9 of the 40 are full-time with 5 working from home and 4 being here each day in the classroom.\u00a0 The coursework ranges from those taking all their academic courses, to elective courses and credit recovery courses.\u00a0 New this year we are also just beginning to offer an online ACT prep course.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Personnel<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 I am working very closely with our administration to finalize plans for staffing changes for the 2018-2019 school year as enrollment changes could require us to move some staff members around.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Buildings and Grounds<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 I have been working closely with our maintenance staff and principals to develop a five year plan district wide for our building and grounds.\u00a0 This plan will be completed and shared with each of you at our upcoming Board planning meeting.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 As we have experienced several expected and unexpected weather delays I want to thank our maintenance staff at each building for being flexible and assisting with snow\/ice removal. They have worked hard to keep our entrances and sidewalks cleared for staff and students.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Events<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Paulding County Spelling Bee: Congratulations to our champion from WTJH (consent item D).<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 GMC wrestling: Congratulations to our champions (consent item E and F).<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Operations<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Enrollment: 1005 students in grades PK-12.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 The Paulding County Board of Elections contacted me to let us know they will again utilize the junior high gym as a polling place.\u00a0 The Board previously approved a resolution which sets the parameters for this.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Consent Agenda Items<\/p>\n<p>One resolution passed by the Board to approve the following consent agenda items:<\/p>\n<p>Motion by:\u00a0 Mr. Baumle; Seconded by:\u00a0 Mrs. Stoller<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 upon the recommendation of the Superintendent to accept the resignation of Phil Nofziger as HS\/JH Principal effective July 31, 2018;<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 upon the recommendation of the Superintendent to accept the resignation of Dave Alt as Director of the Wayne Trace Digital Academy effective the end of the 2018-2019 school year for the purpose of retirement;<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 upon the recommendation of the Superintendent and Director of Curriculum and Instruction, to approve the following teacher professional development days for the 2018-2019 school year:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Two-hour delays: September 21, 2018; October 12, 2018; December 7, 2018; January 25, 2019; February 8, 2019; March 8, 2019; and April 26, 2019;<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Full days: September 17, 2018 and October 22, 2018;<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 to commend seventh grade WTJH student Faith Meraz for winning the 2018 Paulding County Spelling Bee;<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 to commend Head Wrestling Coach George Clemens III, his assistant coaches and the following varsity wrestlers for claiming an individual championship at this year\u2019s Green Meadows Tournament:\u00a0 Tyler Bauer, Austin Smith, and Hunter Showalter;<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 to commend Coach Rob Long, his assistant coaches and the following junior high wrestlers for claiming an individual championship at this year\u2019s Green Meadows Tournament: Jarett Hornish, Brayson Parrish, and Hunter Long.<\/p>\n<p>*Before we pass the consent resolution, are there any items you would like to move from the consent agenda to the discussion agenda for further discussion and\/or for separate voting purposes?<\/p>\n<p>Roll call vote:\u00a0 Mr. Baumle, Mrs. Stoller, Mrs. McClure, Mr. Sinn, and Mr. Swary.<\/p>\n<p>Nay, none.
