Sam Williamson flies into the record book with all the points he earned on Saturday against North Central.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

The West Bend News was at the game where Antwerp took on North Central when shot upon shot was made and records were broken and memories were built. The Eagles travelled to the Archer Court on Saturday, January 23. The game started with Antwerp taking possession of the ball at the tipoff by Josh Longardner and within five seconds the first basket was scored by Sam Williamson. It didn\u2019t take long for the Eagles to fly one through the hoop on their next possession, but that was the last one for a while. Soon it was 15-2 and still 3.5 minutes left in the period. The Eagles began to fly late in the first when Brady Wolfram and Kaleb Gieser each scored a 3 point basket, finishing the quarter at 18-8.<\/p>\n

The second period started and Sam was moving in and out of the key so quickly he was confusing his opponents. He continued to keep scoring and earned more points than the first quarter. By the half, he had 27 points to his name, more than most, if not all, of his games scores. By then the West Bend News was wondering if the record had been broken for the best half ever for Antwerp, but that was not part of the archives. The half finished with Cole Seslar, Matt Jones, Brandon Pendergrast and Josh Longardner also scoring. With another 25 points adding to Antwerp\u2019s 18, it made the halftime score now 43-22.<\/p>\n

Third quarter was Antwerp\u2019s lowest scoring period, but not too shabby when it matched North Central\u2019s highest scoring period. Sam hit 3 free-throws and 2 points. Longardner hit a three point basket, and Pendergrast put up four points from underneath.<\/p>\n

Sam\u2019s best quarter was the fourth period. He was tied with Steve Peters\u2019 nearly 50 year record with 47 points set on December 12, 1969. With being far ahead of the Eagles he was on the bench. Coach TJ Hammer says, \u201cGet back out there Sam. You only need one more.\u201d Going back out he was fouled and put on the line. He scored another basket, but it was called invalid because someone stepped over the line. He shot the second basket to take the school record for his own, scoring 48 points in one game. He put in 6 two point baskets and was fouled quite a few times. He was able to put four from the line in.<\/p>\n

\u201cSam is an athlete that has put in the time and effort to deserve these type of records.\u201d Coach Hammer continued, \u201cHis success shows what hard work and dedication does.\u201d<\/p>\n

The game finished with Antwerp doubling the score of the Eagles 79-38.<\/p>\n
