The equipment was ordered shortly after the election last year and the village took delivery of the new vehicle on Tuesday, February 24.<\/p>\n<p>The truck came in early, ahead of the scheduled time of 9 a.m. The driver brought the Pierce truck from Florida along I-75 and said he had a good trip. &#8220;The weather was good this year,&#8221; said Russ, after remembering last year&#8217;s constant snow. He delivers 10-15 emergency vehicles per year to the towns throughout the eastern half of the US.<\/p>\n<p>Fire Chief Ray Friend explained, &#8220;Our old truck is getting up in age and is a concern of not meeting the new standards and requirements that are put upon departments like ours.&#8221; After 15 years, a truck is required to be put in reserve, and after 25, it is not supposed to be used anymore for the original purpose.<\/p>\n<p>The truck was purchased from Finley Fire Equipment, represented by Richard Brown. Richard is not unknown around here. He is around the area regularly as a referee for high school sports.<\/p>\n<p>The new Pierce Engine &#8211; Antwerp firetruck 44 will be coming online as soon as the department&#8217;s equipment is installed and placed where it needs to be for service.<br \/>\nThe voters of Antwerp are sure proud of their Fire Department.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Voters from the Village of Antwerp approved the levy to purchase a new fire truck.
