William Porte Smith<\/strong>, of Payne, passed away at home on Saturday Jan. 10, 2015.<\/p>\n

He was born in Highland Center on Jan. 18, 1935 a son of the late Porte & Kathryn (Baum) Smith.<\/p>\n

He proudly served in the U.S. Army; was a\u00a0\u00a0member of the Payne Masonic Lodge & St. Paul United Methodist Church.<\/p>\n

He will be sadly missed by his sister, Norma (James) Stewart of Bothell, WA; sisters-in-law, Leah\u00a0\u00a0of Payne & Janice of Fairborn; niece, Marilyn (Roger) Johnson of Archbold, niece & Godchild, Mary Stewart of Seattle; nephews, Terry (Vada) of Payne, Andrew & Eric both of Fairborn; great nieces Jennifer (Matthew) Miller of Bellevue, NE, Janelle (Austin) Couts & Jessica Smith, both of Payne.<\/p>\n

Also preceding him in death were his brothers, Robert & Richard<\/p>\n

William will always be remembered for his kind heart that always guided him to help his family when he was needed.<\/p>\n

Masonic rites will be held 10:45 am Saturday, Jan 17th with a funeral service at 11 am at Dooley Funeral Home, 5761 SR 500, Payne, where viewing is after 9 am.<\/p>\n

He will be laid to rest in Ayersville Cemetery.<\/p>\n

Memorials are to St. Paul UMC for the roof.<\/p>\n
