WOODBURN — In a classic pitcher’s duel at home on Thursday, April 17, the Woodlan Warriors came out on top with a 2-0 victory over Fort Wayne Blackhawk Christian, thanks to a dominant performance from sophomore Nolan Meeks and timely offense in the third inning.

Meeks was electric on the mound, tossing a complete-game shutout while allowing just three hits and two walks across seven innings. He struck out three and kept the Braves’ bats off balance all night, working efficiently and relying on a solid defense behind him that committed just three errors.

The Warriors struck in the bottom of the third inning, plating both of their runs to take the lead for good. Senior Clayton Rosier led the charge with a double and an RBI, while sophomore Ashtin Jacquay chipped in a key single during the rally. Senior Oliver Adams also scored a run in the frame, helping Woodlan seize control.

Despite collecting only three hits in the game, the Warriors made the most of their opportunities, adding four walks and staying aggressive on the bases. Jacquay, Rosier, and freshman Liam Hertig each stole a base, applying pressure throughout the contest.

Defensively, Rosier and Adams were steady with flawless efforts in the field, and sophomore James Goldin added a hit and an RBI to help pace the Warriors’ efficient night at the plate.

The win boosts Woodlan’s momentum early in the season as head coach Mark Koos continues to develop a deep and versatile roster featuring both seasoned seniors and rising underclassmen. The Warriors will look to ride the wave of this shutout victory into their next matchup as they build their resume for postseason play.
