Woodlan Battles Jay County in Hard-Fought Four-Set Match

The Woodlan Warriors volleyball team put up a fierce fight against Jay County in a four-set battle on the home court. Despite dropping the first two sets, the Warriors came alive in the third with a thrilling 27-25 comeback before narrowly falling 24-26 in the fourth set. The final scoreline read: 18-25, 12-25, 27-25, 24-26.
Woodlan’s front line was anchored by senior Bree Peoples and junior Katy Bottoms, who rose to the challenge of blocking Jay County’s offensive attack, including powerful hits from Jay County senior Mya Kunkler. Bottoms turned in a strong all-around performance with 10 digs and 12 kills.
Tori Crozier ran the offense efficiently from the setter position, tallying an impressive 41 assists along with 12 digs, 4 kills, 1 block, and an ace. Lexie Peoples added a team-high 13 digs to go with 2 aces and 2 kills, while McKenna Smith led the back row with 20 digs and chipped in an ace and an assist.
Offensively, Alyssa Anderson powered the Warriors with 14 kills and added 7 digs and a block. Bree Peoples contributed 9 kills, and Makaila Gruber added 6 kills and 8 digs to help round out the attack. Maggie Smith and Madison Halsey also added valuable defensive and serve-receive support throughout the match.
While the result didn’t go Woodlan’s way, the Warriors showed resilience and teamwork, particularly in the third and fourth sets.
