Wayne Trace Blanks Ayersville in Six-Inning Rout

HAVILAND — Behind a complete-game shutout from senior Carter Clemens and a relentless offensive attack, the Wayne Trace Raiders rolled past Ayersville 10-0 in a six-inning Green Meadows Conference matchup on Thursday, April 24.
Clemens was in control from start to finish, scattering four hits across six scoreless innings while striking out three and walking just one. The right-hander also helped his own cause at the plate with two singles, a double, and a pair of runs scored, continuing to shine as both a pitcher and hitter for the 8-5 Raiders.
Wayne Trace struck early and often, building momentum with a balanced hitting effort. Tyler Head powered the offense with two singles, a double, and three RBIs. Conner Davis added a two-run double, while Caden Sinn recorded two singles, a sacrifice bunt, and an RBI. Jack Schoenauer and Jon Sterrett each added base hits and combined for two runs and an RBI, while Tyson Gerber and Carter Baumle contributed key runs as the Raiders steadily pulled away.
The Raiders tallied 12 hits and took full advantage of Ayersville’s defensive lapses. Starting pitcher Owen Lloyd lasted five innings for the Pilots, allowing 10 hits and seven runs—six earned—while striking out five. Kolton Dockery came on in relief and was tagged for three unearned runs in the sixth inning, ending the game by run rule.
Ayersville managed just four singles on the evening, with Chris Steingass, Alex Sigler, Hunter Hazelton, and Dylan Brown each recording a hit. The Pilots failed to move runners into scoring position, stranding opportunities against Clemens and the Wayne Trace defense.
