The Left Turn

This is part 1 of a guide to racetracks that run weekly shows in our area. Just about all the dirt and pavement tracks have released their 2026 race/event schedules on their Facebook and web pages. Always check those for updates.
Spring ahead with daylight saving time means Attica Raceway Park opens this Friday, March 13th. Bring your jacket and blanket because it might get chilly. Attica Raceway Park will be the first weekly track to open in 2026. The regular weekly shows will feature Dirt UMP Late Models, 410 Winged Outlaw Sprints and 305 Winged Sprints. The World of Outlaws and the All-Star Circuit of Champions will appear on select nights in 2026.
Saturday, April 18th will be opening night at “The Track Action Built”, Fremont Speedway. Weekly shows feature the Winged 410 Outlaw Sprints, 305 Winged Sprints and the 6 Cylinder Dirt Trucks. When the weekly 410 Sprints are off, the void will be filled with several other headliners this summer The Ohio Valley Sprint Car Association, High Limit Sprint Series, The All-Star Circuit of Champions, and the Ohio Valley Late Models all scheduled in 2026.
Flat Rack Speedway will swing open the gates to racing Saturday, May 2nd. It’s just north of Toledo off I-75 and over the years many Midwest and National stars have run this fast Michigan speedway. Recently when Team USA Hockey won the Olympics Gold Medal, the speedway received national attention because winning goalie Connor Hellebuyck’s father raced at Flat Rock Speedway in the 1980’s and 1990’s. This paved track features the Outlaw Super Late Models, with Street Stocks, and the thrilling Figure 8 cars. They also bring in Dwarf Cars, Late Model Sportsmen, CRA with top national drivers, Outlaw 350 Supermodifieds and a few other classes.
Limaland Motorsports Park is another Friday night track that runs weekly from May 2nd until August 1st. They try to end their season before high school football starts. Each week they race UMP Modifieds and Thunderstocks. They bring in a different headline class every race night. The Great Lakes Super Sprint use a 360 motor and has a wing on top. The BOSS Sprints visit and they are non-wing 410 like USAC Sprints. The USAC D2 Thunder Midgets and the Dirt Track 4 cylinder Truck Series appear often at Limaland.
Angola Motorsports Park in Angola Indiana will open Saturday, May 23rd, Memorial Day Weekend. This historic paved quarter mile, high banked oval attracts drivers and fans from Indiana, Ohio and Michigan. The weekly Saturday shows normally run five car classes Late Models, Modifieds, Street Stocks, Front Wheel Drives and Hornets. Other series visit the track.
Next week, look for Part 2, of local racetracks that run weekly shows. Our area does have a few tracks with limited schedules that don’t open for weekly racing. Until next week, keep your wheels down. Ron Out! (www.facebook.com/ohiosportsblitz/)
