The Left Turn
By: Ron Burt

The sun has been out, and the temperature has started to rise and in just a few weeks daylight savings time will start. We’re in Ohio, and we all know more snow and cold weather will be back. We can all daydream and look forward to Friday, March 13th. Attica Raceway Park in Tiffin will be the first area racetrack to open in the 2026 season. In recent history the track does battle mother nature, and we have seen cancelations in the past years, but if you’re missing watching drivers make fast left-turns, dress like you’re attending a November football game. I have listed some of the tracks bigger nights off this years schedule.
Opening night at Attica will feature the lightning fast 410 Winged Outlaw Sprints, UMP Dirt Late Models and the very popular and competitive 305 Winged Sprints. The tracks first big event will be Friday and Saturday April 10th & 11th when the All Star Circuit of Champion Sprints invades the famous dirt oval for the Core & Main Spring Nationals. Friday’s feature will pay the winning driver $5,000.00 and Saturday will pay $7,500.00 to win.
Friday, June 12th, Attica Raceway Park will host their night of Ohio Speedway for the All Star Circuit of Champions Sprints. The winner will get $7,500.00. The Dirt UMP Late Models will be the support class and some of us older fans will enjoy the Vintage cars on display and hopefully on the track.
The World of Outlaws will have two big nights in 2026. Friday, May 1st. will be their first stop with the drivers all chasing $12,000.00 to win, and the 305 Sprints will be the support group. The Brad Doty Classic will be held on Friday, July 14th and the payout for the winner has been raised to $20,000.00. It’s also the last tune-up before all the top drivers travel to Eldora for the annual Kings Royal.
September 4th is the annual Attica Ambush, and the track is offering free camping. The All Star Sprints and the American Iron Man Late Model Series will headline the evening. Attica will wrap up the season Friday, September 11th with the 2026 Track Championship night.
Many of our area dirt and pavement racetracks have their schedules on Facebook or their web page and most can be downloaded. Until next week, keep your wheels down. Ron out!
