The Left Turn

Friday, May 16th, Rusty Schlenk remains undefeated at Attica Raceway Park. The McClure, Ohio driver took the lead on lap two and drove to his sixth straight win in the Dirt Nerds Podcast UMP Late Model A-main to remain unbeaten at Attica in 2025. This was Schlenk’s 49th career late model win at Attica and came over Kyle Moore, Gregg Haskell, Mike Bores and Ryan Missler in the non-stop 25 lap feature.
Cap Henry survived a one-lap shoot-out to score his third 410 sprint win of the year at Attica Raceway Park. At the start of the feature, Nate Dussel led the first two laps as ninth starter Henry bolted into third on the first lap and drove to the lead on lap three. After caution on the start, the race didn’t see another caution until lap 29, setting up the one-lap shoot-out. At that point Henry had built a 4.2 second lead. He got a great restart and drove to the win over Dussel, Sebetto, 15th place starter Zane DeVault and Justin Clark.

Jimmy McGrath won the 25-lap Fremont Fence 305 Sprint A-main. Finishing behind him Matt Foos, Bremden Torok, Seth Schneider and John Ivy.
Saturday, May 16th was the opening night for Oakshade Raceway outside of Wauseon and kicked off the 50th anniversary of the speedway, featuring all four weekly classes of cars. UMP Late Model Champion Devin Shiels had a dominating performance in the first feature event of the year leading from flag to flag. Rusty Schlenk on lap one and then the track champion pulled away. The race did have several cautions. Behind Shiels at the finish was 2nd Steve Kester, 3rd Jake Rendel, 4th Dusty Moore and 5th Rusty Smith. Schlenk DNF because of a flat tire on lap 17.
In the Sportsman feature, Shane Estes moved by Roman Brown on the outside to take the lead on the first lap of the 20-lap event. Mike Jessen closed in and began to pressure for the top spot and after several laps of hard racing, Jessen finally took command. Things got jumbled up at the front once the leaders caught lapped traffic and the young Roman Brown got his new 00 out front after slipping back to third at the start of the race. Brown went on to record his second ever Sportsman feature win with Shane Estes fighting back to finish second. Donnie Ringman ended up third with Mike Jessen hanging on to finish fourth. Karl Spoores rounded out the top five finishers.
2021 Dominator Super Stock track champion, Gabe Mueller, started on the pole of the 15-lap A Main and immediately took command at the drop of the green flag. The only caution flag of the event flew right at the completion of lap one after Jake Rendel got loose and collected Mason Luttrell. A couple laps after the restart, Jeff Foks Jr. got by Dylan Burt for second but could not catch Holland, Ohio, driver who went on to pick up the easy victory. Jeff Foks Jr., 3rd Jake Rendel, 4th Dylan Burt, and 5th Scott Hammer.
Ian Paul picked up the checkered flag in the Sport Compact feature. James Stamper, Tim Streight, Jeff Wells and Jeff Goodman were the rest of the top five finishers.
