Successful Summer Fundraising for Caring & Sharing Food Pantry

July and August were fruitful fundraising months for the Caring & Sharing Food Pantry. Nearly $7,000 was received from a fundraising bus trip to Holmes County Ohio and the 127 Yard Sale.

The bus trip sold out for a third year in a row! This year a group of about 50 visited wineries and cheese makers in NE Ohio on July 17. The generous participants raised nearly $1,600, and the trip was organized by Ann Olwin, Sue Beck and Kathy Cadwallader.

The 127 Yard Sale for the pantry was hosted again this year by the First Presbyterian Church of Paulding in early August. Through the coordination of Brent Fishbaugh and Carol Razo and countless donations and baked sale items from many in the community, the sale generated more than $5,000. Many additional volunteers helped prep, staff the sale and clean up afterward.

“While we receive tons of food donated by individuals and food drives each year, we also spend about 30 percent of our budget to purchase additional food required to fill the needs of all of the people we serve,” said Jodi Schneider, pantry director. “So fundraisers like these are very important to our financial sustainability.”
