Richard L. “Dick” Johanns

Richard L. “Dick” Johanns, age 77, of Paulding, OH passed away on Friday, October 31, 2025 at CHP Inpatient Hospice, Defiance, OH.

Dick was born in Paulding, OH on March 2, 1948 to his late parents Paul and Ruth Ann (Graf) Johanns. On November 25, 1967, Dick married his high school sweetheart, Jacquelyn R. McDonald.

He retired from B.F. Goodrich, Woodburn, IN in 1995, after 28 years of service. Dick was also a lifelong, self-employed farmer and drove truck for Plummer Trucking. Dick was a member of Divine Mercy Catholic Parish, Paulding, OH and the K of C #2584, Paulding, OH. He also enjoyed tractor pulling in his spare time and was an avid Chicago Cubs fan.

Dick is survived by his wife of 57 years, Jackie Johanns, Paulding, OH; sons: Rich (Dawn) Johanns, Paulding, OH; Brett (Sara) Johanns, Paulding, OH; Matt (Jenny) Johanns, Northwood, OH; daughters: Jen (Mike) McMichael, Cecil, OH; Heidi (Brandon) Stoller, Antwerp, OH; brothers: Phillip Johanns, Paulding, OH; Gary (Pam) Johanns, Venedocia, OH; sisters: Janet (Phil) Stump, Wilmington NC; Constance (Jim) Smith, Wilmington NC; Carol (Doug) Holland, Elk City, OK; Barbara King, Columbus, OH; 14 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren.

He is also preceded in death by his great granddaughter, Harper Martenies.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 5, 2025 at Divine Mercy Catholic Parish, Paulding, OH with Father Austin Ammanniti officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Grove Cemetery, Jackson Township.

Visitation will be from 4:00-8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 4, 2025 at Den Herder Funeral Home, Paulding, OH with a wake service at 7:30 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made in Dick’s memory to the American Heart Association or the Caring and Sharing Food Pantry.
