Paulding FFA Members Compete in State Aquarium Management and Animal Management CDE

By: Paulding FFA Reporter, Vivienne Myers
On November 11th, the Paulding FFA Aquarium Management team, consisting of senior Jacob Harris, juniors Olivia Breier, Remington Borroff, and Jayla Griffith, sophomore Addison Arend, and freshmen Makenna Manz, Wesley Grindstaff, and Chase Manz competed at the Ohio State Fairgrounds in the State Aquarium CDE. The members had to identify different types of freshwater and saltwater fish, aquarium equipment, take a written test, and complete practicums on aquarium care. This year’s practicums included siphoning a tank and testing pH. The team placed 8th in the state of Ohio out of 28 teams and the team will receive a plaque at the State FFA Convention in May. The top finisher was Remington Boroff scoring 4th out of 179 individuals. In addition, Jacob Harris placed 9th and they will both receive a plaque for their hard work. A special thanks to Carter Manz for helping coach the team. We are so thankful for our FFA Alumni who are willing to help our members.
The Animal Management team placed 18th out of 36 teams with Kendall Kohart being the top finisher for the team. This event requires participants to identify different breeds of animals and equipment. It also has participants go through a practicum on animal care. Team members were Kendall Kohart, Elliette Roughton, Myrriah Manz and Karlee Kohart. This was the first year for this event so we are excited for the future.
We are very proud of both teams and excited to see our members compete in many other CDEs this year.
