PAJAMAS, HOT TEA, PEACE & A DONUT

Penny For Your Thoughts By: Nancy Whitaker
Did you ever have a day that everything went wrong? Sometimes I feel like I am too old to have a bad day. Why? Well I am older and I want peace, quiet, hot tea, a good movie, put my feet up and let the rest of the world go by. However… Wishful thinking.
I love starting out my day with a cup of black coffee and reading the news on my iPad or phone. It’s kind of weird, but the first thing I read are the obits. Of course, sometimes there is someone I knew or someone my age. Enough news about Bad Bunny and the Super Bowl entertainment, politics, and all the things I don’t like to read about.
The next thing, my phone rings and a voice is saying, “Don’t forget your blood work today.” I answer, “But I have to get out of my pjs, get a shower and it may take me 2 hours to get ready.”
You know I really wanted to eat a filled donut, but have to grab a cold Pop Tart and go upstairs to get ready.
After my blood work I thought of something I needed from the grocery. Hmm-mmm… What was it?
There was a special price on corn on the cob, so I went over to get some and they were all out. I had some chicken in the freezer so would hopefully make that for supper.
Upon arriving home, my cat was meowing and wanted treats, petted, new water, his special lunch food plus even if his litter box is cleaned, Kitty Cat wants it moved around before he will use it.
Meow meow … now what? He jumps up on my lap and wants brushed and more petting. Then what do you know? He takes his nap.
I want my lunch too, but my bread is stale and I will grab a peanut butter sandwich. Now, peace, quiet, hot tea and Judge Judy on TV. Then after a short break I head out to my kitchen to marinate my chicken. Where is it? Oh, no – still in the freezer! Well, Denny said he was bringing some Won Ton soup over and I could put some rice in the microwave. Denny said he would fix the soup as it just needed warmed up.
Well, I had bought a used glass casserole dish last week and all of a sudden I heard a big crash in the kitchen. Actually it sounded like a bomb. Cat woke up and hid, I thought something blew up. I yelled at my sweetie and said, “What happened? Are you okay?” He replied, “I think I just screwed up.”
I ventured out to the kitchen and sweetie had put the casserole dish on the burner of the stove. There was wontons and broth and glass all over the stove and floor. I told him you can’t put glass on a stove burner. We got it cleaned up and sent out for food. I just want to put on my night clothes, watch TV and drink tea.
Dishes can wait till morning, but now Kitty Cat wants his regular routine. Treats, of course, petted, brushed, play and his dinner. Then it’s “meow meow” and he starts running and racing around the house, wanting to play.
Oh now, I have to pay bills, lock doors and finally sit down to my peace and quiet, hot tea, and some TV.
Then I lost my glasses. Well, they were on the stand right beside me.
Ring ring ring. Oh it’s an unknown caller, but I am nosy and have to google that number to see what spammer was calling me at 10:00 p.m. Now back to hot tea which is now lukewarm; movie over and I am going to say my prayers and go to bed. This wasn’t a bad day just one where I wanted a donut, my lunch, a good supper, hot tea and peace and quiet. But, thank you God for giving me all the good things in my life.
There are days I just want to sit around in my PJs and do peaceful, comforting things, read a book and maybe eat a bon bon.
Do you have busy days and does anyone just feel that some times a good peaceful day is great? Let me know and I will give you a Penny for your thoughts.
