Michael Xavier McCray

DEFIANCE, OH:
Michael Xavier McCray, 75 of Defiance, Ohio passed from this life surrounded by his family July 1, 2025.
Michael was born in Bowling Green, Ohio May 2, 1950 to Horace and Doris McCray.
He is preceded in death by his beloved daughter April Marie and brothers Jerry and Paul.
He met the love of his life Nancy Kay (Byers) and married his girl in Monroe, Michigan on December 19, 1969 and started the adventure of their lives. They had 4 beautiful children April Marie (deceased), Michael (Amy), Emily, George (Nichole).
13 grandchildren: Samantha, Emma, Kylie, Myla, Molly, Madelyn, Madison, Katie, Bailey, Mike, George, Allan, Andrew. 3 great-grandchildren: Blakely, August, Brian.
Sisters: Mary (Jerry) Errand, Barbara (Rich) McGoveren. Brother: Jimmy (Linda) Byers. Aunt Babs, Aunt Porky, and cousin Katie.
Michael received his Associate Degree in Applied Science Electronic Engineering with Highest Honors. Michael was passionate about his education and never stopped learning and growing.
Michael retired from Barbara Ann Karmonos Cancer Institute in 2009. When he took of the love of bee keeping and gardening. Spending all his free time with his girl Nancy and their family. He loved cooking out for his family BBQ ribs chicken wings. Taking Nancy to Kelly’s Island any chance he had. Michael made friends wherever he was and always ready to lend a hand and help. He could fix anything you could always find him in the garage working on something.
Michael the man I loved more then anyone he was my best friend and my rock through out good times and bad. I’m beyond grateful for the time we have had together. I won’t ever forget the love in his eyes, they melted my heart everything he looked at me. My heart is so broken saying Happy Trails to the love of my life. It brings me comfort having so much of him alive in each one of our children, grandchildren, great grandchildren.
I am so grateful we were together in our adventure through life. Babe we will be together again, until that day rest easy and fly high. I love you Babe!
The family would like to thank all the great nurses at CHP Hospice their compassion and kindness are unsurpassed. Chaplin Larry for giving comfort and prayers. Everyone at the Cremation Society of Toledo thank you.
A Celebration of Michael’s Life will be held at a later date.
